Resultados de aprendizaje de la asignatura
El alumno tiene que ser capaz al finalizar el curso de:
- Reconocer los estilos de arquitectura, escultura y pintura dados durante el curso - Saber las características más importantes de estos estilos - Tener la capacidad de interrelación comparativa entre los diferentes estilos y lenguajes históricos y saberlos situar en el tiempo y contexto geográfico de influencia - Tener la capacidad de ampliar el conocimiento más allá del contexto occidental identificando la emergencia otras culturas expresadas en ciudades de continentes varios - Describir un edificio, una escultura y una pintura correctamente y utilizando la terminología adecuada - Saber los artistas que han sido protagonistas - Reconocer las obras capitales de cada movimiento, saber el artista y el siglo de su creación- Hacer una reflexión sobre el devenir de la historia y su implicación en el presente

Lecture 1- Between the Human and the Divine I: Mesopotamian architecture. Between the Human and the Divine II: Egyptian architecture
Practice 1- Individual exercise: self-made image of favourite building

Lecture 2- Greek architecture and urban forms I. Greek architecture and urban forms II
Field Visit 1- (Thursday) Visit to the Egyptian Museum of Barcelona.
Research submission 1-General information on the projects to compare, graphic info (floorplans, sections, elevations), first selection of photos

Lecture 3- The evolution of Roman Architecture: Structural Systems, Typologies and Representation of Power.
Construction techniques in late Roman and early christian architecture.
Practice 2- Timeline examples. History of the city of Barcelona.
Field Visit 1(Thursday)- City walk: Roman Barcelona. Visit to the MUHBA, to the
Augustus temple remains, Roman streets, and remains of the city wall.
Sketching and graphic report of the visit.
Week 5
Lecture 4- Romanesque architecture I.From Romanesque to Gothic.

Field Visit 3(Thursday)-Romanesque architecture and artistic expressions: Visit of the monastery Sant Pau del Camp.Sketching and graphic report of the visit.
Research submission 2 Preliminary analysis: contextual, historical, and on the topic.
First conclusions/intuitions.Plans, sections, and elevations (at least one of each one, redrawn by you and on scale). These should be accurate drawings. First ideas about the structure of the essay and approach towards graphic analysis.

Metodología y actividades formativas
Modalidad totalmente presencial en el aula
- Las clases serán teóricas y prácticas
- La parte de la clase teórica se basa en ponencias, centradas en un periodo o tradición cultural específica de la historia del arte y la arquitectura.
- La parte práctica se dividirá en dos partes; los estudiantes dispondrán de un notebook y de un ejercicio de investigación (en grupo) sobre un edificio de relevancia.
- Visitas de campo pertinentes completan el curso, dado que la observación de campo es fundamental para el entendimiento de edificios históricos en un contexto contemporáneo.
- El cuaderno tendrá que contener dibujos de los diferentes periodos estudiados a clase, notas de las conferencias añadiendo información, esbozos, esquemas, mapas, etc., informe histórico y gráfico de las visitas.
- El ejercicio de investigación consiste en la comparación de dos edificios de diferentes periodos históricos o tradiciones culturales, relacionados mediante un tema. Esta investigación se materializará en un trabajo escrito en el que se incluirán los planos de los edifcios redibujados por los alumnos, así como otras documentaciones gráficas más analíticas . Todos los ejercicios de investigación se presentarán en clase. Para ello se realizarán sesiones intermedias de revisión y crítica de los materiales aportados por los alumnos.
-De manera adicional, y ocupando un 10% de la nota global de la asignatura, se solicita a los alumnos la realización (individualmente) de un timeline en el que se vuelquen los principales edificios, arquitectos, periodos históricos y estilos estudiados en clase.

Sistemas y criterios de evaluación
Modalidad totalmente presencial en el aula
-Cuaderno de notas y participación y asistencia a clase (10%)
-Ejercicio de investigación en grupo y presentación oral a clase (en grupos de 2/3 personas) (40%)
-Examen escrito (en enero) (40%). El alumno necesitará una nota mínima de 4 para que el examen haga media.
-Timeline (individual) (10%)
-El uso de la plataforma Moodle es obligatoria.
- El proceso de evaluación se fundamenta en el trabajo personal del estudiante y se presupone la autenticidad de la autoría y la originalidad de los ejercicios realizados.
- Se calificará como suspenso si una carencia de originalidad es detectada en la autoría de cualquier actividad o entrega para ser evaluada, si los materiales han sido utilizados sin autorización, o han sido copiadas y pegadas desde fuentes de internet, manuales o artículos (sin la correspondiente citación), o de otro alumno.
