Teaching and learning activities

In person

The teaching and learning methodology is based on the lecture format but focused on the active participation of the student.

The EDC corresponding to this subject adopt the case method format and will exemplify the teaching content addressed in the lectures, illustrating to the student how to put knowledge at the service of expert work.

Evaluation systems and criteria

In person

  1. Class attendance. A minimum of 80% of attendance to the classroom sessions will be required in order to be evaluated and satisfactorily pass the course.

  2. Continuous evaluation. An exercise will be carried out for each class that will evaluate the level of understanding reached by the student on the subject and his/her reasoning capacity. The evaluation of the exercise will be carried out by the teacher responsible for the session and some of them will involve the use of Moodle.

The weighted average of all the exercises performed will represent 70% of the final grade of the course (40% multiple-choice exams and 30% questions to be developed).

The evaluation of the Directed Case Studies (Monday seminars) will represent 30% of the final grade.

Bibliography and resources

The Chapter on Legal and Forensic Psychiatry by Dr. Ortega-Monasterio and Dr. Gómez-Durán (8th ed. of the Treatise Introduction to Psychopathology and Psychiatry - 7th ed. available at the UIC library) is recommended as a basic text.

Students will have at their disposal the presentations used in class and, if applicable, selected scientific articles and texts recommended by the professors. Each session will contain the references of interest on the specific topic.
