Introduction

The skills to be exercised by the physiotherapy professional include management. This subject is designed so that the student has the technical skills and practical knowledge to assume the responsibilities associated with the management and administration of physiotherapy centers and projects related to the profession. The student will be provided with digital resources and tools to optimize efficiency and productivity in their work environment.

Objectives

  1. Develop clinical management skills that include the efficient use of health resources.
  2. Develop planning, management and control activities in the care units where care is provided in OMPT and its relationship with other health services.
  3. Apply the care criteria in OMPT within the framework of manual Physiotherapy, properly using the available resources.
  4. Apply efficiency criteria as work tools and use technology appropriately.

Competences/Learning outcomes of the degree programme

  • CN01 - Identify knowledge that provides a foundation or creates opportunities for originality in the development and/or application of ideas, both in clinical practice and in a research context.
  • CP01 - To effectively manage professional and clinical situations that require the integration of knowledge from biomedical, clinical, and behavioral sciences within the specialty area of ​​Orthopedic Manual Therapy.
  • CP04 - To communicate effectively in interpersonal relationships in order to conduct a medical history assessment, evaluate and treat musculoskeletal dysfunctions, with the aim of improving the patient's/user's health and fostering collaboration within the multidisciplinary team.
  • CP06 - To work within a clinical practice of orthopedic manual physiotherapy that specifically integrates scientific evidence, clinical data, biopsychosocial factors, and risk-effectiveness and prognosis parameters into the therapeutic intervention.
  • HB03 - Use procedures that ensure confidentiality in the handling and processing of patient/user documentation, complying with ethical, legal, and technical requirements, in accordance with current healthcare regulations.
  • HB04 - To solve problems in new or unfamiliar environments within broader (or multidisciplinary) contexts related to their field of study.
  • HB05 - To interpret information from the clinical field, identifying the ethical aspects and social responsibilities related to clinical practice, while adhering to standards of equality and sustainability.
  • HB07 - Effectively utilize advanced tools related to information and communication technologies to ensure continuous professional development and practice based on scientific evidence.

Learning outcomes of the subject

  • MAT04 - 01. Demonstrate clinical management skills, including the efficient use of healthcare resources.
  • MAT04 - 02. To work on the planning, management, and control of healthcare units that provide OMPT services, and their relationship with other healthcare services.
  • MAT04 - 03. Apply the OMPT (Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy) treatment guidelines within the framework of manual physiotherapy, using the available resources appropriately.
  • MAT04 - 04. Apply efficiency criteria as work tools, using technology appropriately.

Syllabus

  • Study, planning, management and control of manual therapy services within the framework of Manual Physiotherapy.
  • Preparation, management and execution of the health plan of the unit in which they work.
  • Successful management of the clinical work center, profitability and durability of the projects within the framework of the OMPT.
  • Legislation in force in health matters, labor legislation in the health world. Management of professional human resources, evaluation and incentive systems, management of labor conflicts in a health organization.

Teaching and learning activities

  • TC (Theoretical classes): The teacher is the one who exposes in a systematic and orderly manner the information corresponding to the different subjects and the student has a role mainly as a receiver. The scenario in which the teacher transmits knowledge is the classroom and he does it to the entire group of students. The theoretical class format allows the introduction of group activities in the classroom and the development of strategies that encourage the active participation of students.
  • PC (Practical classes):  It includes any type of classroom and/or laboratory practice (practices among students, case studies, problems, activities in the computer room, search for information,...)
  • SLA (Self-learning activities: These activities are designed so that the student solves problems on their own with the help of the material provided and the information from the face-to-face activities and/or available in the virtual environment in which the online subjects are developed.
  • SIS (Student independent study): It is a process aimed at the formation of an autonomous student capable of learning to learn; It consists of developing study skills, establishing educational goals and objectives based on the recognition of the weaknesses and strengths of the individual, which will respond to the needs and expectations of each one. It implies the possibility that each student makes their own decisions in relation to the organization of their time and their learning pace, which is why it requires a high degree of responsibility to make the most of resources.Includes study of contents related to "theoretical classes" and "practices" (studying exams, carrying out individual and group theoretical work, library work, complementary reading, etc.).
  • MC (Master Class): Transmission of knowledge and activation of cognitive processes in the student.
  • CL (Cooperative learning): Development of active and significant learning cooperatively.
  • FL (Flipped learning): Systems based on new technologies as basic knowledge tools outside the classroom, so that when students arrive to class they put their ideas and impressions together, giving teachers the opportunity to personalize their instruction according to the needs of each one.
  • POL (Proyect oriented learning): Understanding of problems and application of knowledge for their resolution.
  • CS (Case studies): Acquisition of learning through the analysis of clinical or professional cases, real or simulated.

Evaluation systems and criteria

  • Theoretical evaluation: 30%
  • Narrative report: 70%

The grading system will be used in accordance with current legislation.

Actually, according to RD 1.125/2003 del 5 de septiembre.

  • 0-4,9 Fail.
  • 5,0-6,9 Pass.
  • 7,0-8,9 Notable.
  • 9,0-10 Outstanding.

The Honor Roll mention may be awarded to students who have obtained a grade equal to or greater than 9.0. Their number may not exceed 5% of the students enrolled in a subject in the corresponding academic year, unless the number of students enrolled is less than 20, in which case a single Honors may be awarded.
