Every student will have a tutor to assist him in the development of his TFM.

Each student will specify with his / her tutor when they are going to carry out the tutorials, which will be done online.

In November you will be notified of the name and email of your tutor, so that you can start the TFM with the tutorials you need.

Introduction

In the Master’s Thesis, students must integrate and demonstrate that they have acquired the competences developed throughout the course. Both during the preparation process and in the content and oral presentation of their work, students must show that they have internalized the basic, general, transversal, and specific competences.

The topic of the Master’s Thesis must address an educational issue. Students must formulate a research hypothesis, apply data collection techniques and instruments (fieldwork), and interpret the data obtained.

The structure of the Master’s Thesis must include the following sections:

  • Introduction and justification of the topic
  • Theoretical framework and literature review
  • Research hypothesis and objectives
  • Methodological design (context, participants, instruments, procedures)
  • Results and discussion
  • Conclusions
  • Bibliographic references

Competences/Learning outcomes of the degree programme

Basic and General Competences:

CB6 - Possess and understand knowledge that provides a foundation or opportunity to be original in the development and/or application of ideas, often within a research context.

CB7 - Students should be able to apply the knowledge acquired and their problem-solving abilities in new or unfamiliar environments within broader (or multidisciplinary) contexts related to their field of study.

CB8 - Students should be able to integrate knowledge and address the complexity of formulating judgments based on information that, while incomplete or limited, includes reflections on the social and ethical responsibilities linked to the application of their knowledge and judgments.

CB9 - Students should be able to communicate their conclusions, as well as the knowledge and underlying reasoning that support them, to both specialist and non-specialist audiences in a clear and unambiguous manner.

CB10 - Students should apply the learning skills that enable them to continue studying in a largely self-directed or autonomous manner.

CG1 - Formulate reflective and critical judgments that are responsible, ethical, and respectful towards the different stakeholders involved in the educational process (family, school, and society).

CG2 - Analyze and synthesize information obtained from different environments in order to solve problems or conflict situations, identifying and defining the significant elements that constitute a problem and resolving it effectively and with sound judgment.

CG4 - Present ideas orally and in writing, adapting to different communication styles and types of activities.

CG6 - Integrate and use Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) effectively and responsibly in different fields.

CG7 - Communicate effectively in public and deliver digital-supported presentations adapted to the different stakeholders in the school context (teachers, families, students, etc.).

Transversal Competences:

CT1 - Critically analyze personal work and use appropriate resources and strategies for professional improvement.

CT3 - Demonstrate ethical and responsible behavior as a citizen and as a professional.

CT4 - Develop the ability to assess inequalities based on sex and gender in order to design mechanisms aimed at achieving real equality, avoiding partial and discriminatory interpretations.

CT5 - Identify strategies to promote gender equality, equity, and respect for human rights.

CT6 - Promote inclusive situations and environments for Sustainable Development, creating effective, responsible, and inclusive contexts at all levels.

Specific Competences:

CE14 - Apply innovative teaching proposals, critically analyzing teaching performance, good practices, and guidance processes by using quality indicators within the field of specialization undertaken.

CE15 - Apply basic educational research and assessment methodologies and techniques, and be able to design and develop research, innovation, and evaluation projects.

Learning outcomes of the subject

  • Apply the knowledge and tools acquired to an educational research project.
  • Identify a research problem in the field of teaching or the education system, correctly formulating the working hypothesis and/or research questions, as well as designing a methodological model to study it.
  • Coherently integrate different theoretical perspectives, sources, and dimensions in order to analyze educational reality.
  • Apply techniques and use instruments for the collection of quantitative and qualitative information.
  • Analyze the collected data and develop relevant conclusions for the teaching or learning of the subject within the area of specialization.
  • Correctly use tables and graphs to present relevant information.
  • Generalize cautiously and critically based on the results of the collected data.
  • Generate proposals for improving educational reality based on research findings.
  • Write the Master’s Thesis using appropriate and formal language.
  • Present orally, using appropriate and formal language, the results obtained from the completion of the Master’s Thesis.
  • Analyze the organizational development of educational institutions, assessing their functionality.
