  • 12.00 p.m. Reception and introduction to the UIC Barcelona Experience Campus in Calonge and Girona counties. Dr Jordi Miralbell, director of the UIC Barcelona Experience Campus. 
  • 12.15 p.m. Round table run by students from the Experience Campus in the Calonge i Sant Antoni centre. 
  • 12.35 p.m. Refreshments.
  • 1.00 p.m. “Living in the present, an exciting challenge.” Dr Salvador Vidal, academic coordinator of the UIC Barcelona Experience Campus
  • 1.45 p.m. End of the event 
  • 3:30 h. Invitation to Calonge Experience Campus classes by Dr Victor Pou (registration for the Open Day is a requirement)

Calonge and Sant Antoni centre

The UIC Barcelona Experience Campus has a new centre in Calonge and Sant Antoni, which will offer Experience Campus courses to the population of over 50 years of age.

The range of subjects offered will be in the following areas: history, art, philosophy, literature, science, technology, law, economics, sociology, psychology and health sciences, allowing us to deepen our knowledge of today’s culture, science and society.

Class will take place in Calonge Castle.

1st semester

 2nd semester

  • Science for Non-Scientists
  • Science, Technology and Society: Keys to Understanding the 21st Century 
  • Literature in the European Tradition
  • Renaissance and Baroque Art
  • War and Peace in the 20th Century
  • The Founding Fathers of the European Union and the Community's Strategy for European Integration

Methodology

Dynamic, participatory, requiring group work outside the face-to-face and online sessions.

The teachers will start and finish their subjects with face-to-face classes in Calonge Castle, and the other classes will be online.

Assessment: pass or fail. 80% attendance and active participation are required. There are no exams.

Students who have successfully completed the three courses will receive the diploma in the University Senior Programme in Culture, Science and Society of UIC Barcelona (Calonge Centre). This is an unofficial title.

How to sign up Prerequisites and admission

The Campus of Experience is aimed at people over 50 years of age.

No previous qualification is required.

To pre-register for first year of the Experience Campus Course (Calonge Centre) it is necessary to fill out this form.

Pre-registration can also be done by writing to activa@calonge.cat. As the number of places is limited, they will be assigned by order of registration date.
