The B2 CLUC exam is a language proficiency certificate issued by the twelve Catalan universities. It is approved by the Interuniversity Council of Catalonia, accredited by the Spanish Association of Language Centres in Higher Education (ACLES) and recognised by the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE).
The CLUC exam bears the CertAcles seal and is recognised by the European Confederation of Language Centres in Higher Education (CERCLES), of which 22 European countries are currently members. This exam therefore certifies a B2 level of language competence both in Spain and throughout Europe.
It is a single level exam. In other words, it is used to assess and certify a B2 level, and only a B2 level, in all four areas of knowledge (listening, speaking, reading and writing), in accordance with the Common European Framework for Languages (CEFR), and comes with a university guarantee. It therefore enables you to certify the level you need to complete a bachelor's degree at a Catalan university and is also useful when applying for mobility programmes or grants.
The CLUC exam is managed and coordinated by the Catalan Interuniversity Committee for Language Training and Certification (CIFALC). For more information, please visit the following website: CLUC B2 English exam.
Any students, administrative staff members or research and teaching staff members from the Catalan universities who need to reliably certify a B2 level in all four areas of knowledge are eligible to take this exam. As is anyone aged 18 or older.
Description of the exam
The CLUC is a paper exam that is divided into four sections: writing, speaking, reading and listening. Follow this link for examples of the different exam sections, as well as a detailed explanation of each part and the exam's assessment criteria.
