GRAICLE (Research Group in Content and Foreign Language Integrated Learning)
The GRAICLE research group at the Institute for Multilingualism investigates the effects of teaching and learning academic content through a second/foreign language (L2) in multilingual university settings. More specifically, the group carries out educational and applied linguistic research on Integrated Content and Language in Higher Education (ICLHE), with a particular focus on the following research lines:
The effects of ICLHE on second language acquisition, i.e. the development of students’ linguistic competence, oral skills and academic writing in the L2 / English.
Lecturers’ use of multimodal and interactional resources to support content and language integrated learning.
Student agency and the effects of peer interaction in CMC contexts on content and language integrated learning.
Inter-departmental collaboration for English-Medium Instruction (EMI) teacher development.
