  • Programme

In recent years we have witnessed the apparent emergence of new criminal phenomena which have generated a large degree of concern both in society and in the press.  These include specific types of sexual attacks that are particularly reprehensible. Patterns of group behaviour have emerged in which the offenders seem to believe it is acceptable to take advantage of a victim’s vulnerability, whether in an openly threatening way or through the creation of vague and intimidating situations. On the other hand, in terms of the recruitment and organisation of Islamic terrorist group activities, studies have begun into the dynamics and sequences involved in processes of radicalisation which gradually (or otherwise) lead to the incorporation of new recruits who are willing to actively participate in the spread of terror.

The cultural and sociological changes that take place in society without a doubt lead to an impact on types of crime and the profiles of attackers and victims which should be rigorously analysed from a forensic psychopathology point of view.  During this conference an attempt will be made to tackle the keys to the appearance of the two aforementioned phenomena, from a multidisciplinary perspective, with a double purpose: to propose methods for early detection and primary prevention, as well as to understand the context within which these psychopathological phenomena which lie at the heart of these trends should be interpreted.
