From 23-26 November, the 26th edition of the Organisation of Faculties, Schools and Departments of Odontology of the Union of Latin American Universities (OFEDO-UDUAL) General Assembly took place in Punta Cana (Dominican Republic), a meeting in which new concepts in cariology were discussed and in which Dr Lluís Giner Tarrida and Dr Akram Ali Hussein, dean and vice dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, respectively, participated.
The Organisation of Faculties, Schools and Departments of Dentistry of the Union of Universities of Latin America and the Caribbean (OFEDO-UDUAL) is a non-governmental organisation that promotes programmes that encourage institutional strengthening of partner universities and stimulates interaction between them to support the academic exchange of teachers and students.
This year’s edition focused especially on cariology, led by specialists in the field from around the world. Current issues about caries management were discussed.
The dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Dr Lluís Giner Tarrida, participated with the lecture “Retos educativos en la praxis odontológica actual [Educational challenges in dental practice today].” The academic vice dean, Dr Akram Ali Hussein gave an online lecture titled “Riesgos de caries. Actualización en estrategias de manejos y protocolos [Caries risks. Update on management strategies and protocols.”
