UIC Barcelona at the Asian Pacific Association for International Education Conference in Delhi (India)

UIC Barcelona’s International Relations Office attended the APAIE conference from 24 to 28 March, bringing together universities from around the world to promote the value of international education in the Asia-Pacific region.

Eduardo Mirpuri, vice-rector for International Relations, and Reetta Heikkinen, global partnerships manager, represented UIC Barcelona at the APAIE (Asian Pacific Association for International Education) conference as part of the Catalan universities’ delegation. This annual event took place from 24 to 28 March in Delhi, India, with over 2500 representatives from 70 different countries in attendance.

As part of the conference, the International Relations team visited two local universities: Delhi Technological University and Amity University Gurugram. Both institutions share an interest in education and areas such as health sciences, engineering, technology, business, culture, and sports. India’s higher education system is the largest in the world, comprising over 1,100 universities in a country where access to education continues to grow.

Following the conference, UIC Barcelona established further key contacts for future collaborations with universities in the Asia-Pacific region and strengthened existing partnerships.

The two participants attended networking events organised within the conference, such as the reception at the Spanish Embassy in Delhi, and some training sessions on internationalisation in higher education.

The 2026 APAIE conference will take place in Hong Kong in February 2026.
