Introduction

Clinical practice is divided into two sessions of four hours each performed Tuesday morning and Thursday afternoon.

Pre-course requirements

To have a degree in Medicine (Specialty in Dentistry) or Dentistry

Objectives

The aim is that the students perform fixed and removable prosthetic treatment on teeth and on implants, as well as being able diagnose, plan and carry out a prosthetic rehabiliitation.
Prior to treatment, the student will have to submit the case so that teachers can check the adequacy of the treatment plan.

Competences/Learning outcomes of the degree programme

- To diagnose, plan and carry out a multidisciplinary treatment, organizing at the same time necessary interconsultations. 

- To perform a presentation of a complex clinical case according to the rules accepted in national and international meetings. 

- To present their cases and suggest different treatment plans, all accompanied by relevant lterature reviews concerning the proposed plan or present pathology. This treatment plan is to be presented as a debate in front of teachers and classmates. 

- To carry out the proposed treatment in a clinical setting with the help of teachers, who will check  step by step the correct execution and will serve as fellow-students to provide a correct and didactic treatment.

Learning outcomes of the subject

- Students will be able to perform fixed and removable prostheses treatments on implants and natural teeth in patients

- Students will be able to perform adhesive prosthetic treatments, both direct and indirect.

- Students will be able to prepare cases in the laboratory, so that treatments can be performed in patients in a systematic and formal manner.

Syllabus

- Fixed prostheses on teeth and on implants, conventional  and adhesive (direct and indirect).

- Removable Prosthetics, mucosopported and/or toothsuported and implant-retained and/or implant-supported.

Teaching and learning activities

- Clinical practice in patients at university clinic of the International University of Catalonia

- Preparation of  laboratory work (articulating mounting, wax-up, and possible preclinical practices)

- Preparation of cases to be presented to teachers, peers and / or conferences

- Preclinical Evaluation and Clinical Practice Continued Evaluation

- Evaluation of case presentations in progress (exhibit form and content presentation)

- Evaluation of finished case presentations (content presentation and exhibition form)

Bibliography and resources

- The Clinical Practice wil be performed on patients provided by the dental clinic of the International University of Catalonia

- Pre-clinical practice wii be performed on extracted teeth provided by each student or resin teeth provided by the International University of Catalonia
