Introduction
This course offers third-year students a global vision of the professional fields of psychology, both consolidated and emerging.
Each session is led by a professional who shares her personal experiences, expectations and conclusions about her field of competence. This experiential nature, together with the interactive format of the sessions, allows students to identify in which work areas they are projected in the immediate future.
To achieve this objective, together with the existing traditional outlets, emerging trends and social megatrends are addressed: interdisciplinary intervention, digitisation, social commitment, sustainability, etc.
Pre-course requirements
In principle, it is not necessary to have prior knowledge of the topics being addressed. However, reflection skills are required as support to implement the activities and evaluation exercises that will be proposed.
Objectives
1. To become aware of the professional fields and emerging trends in psychology.
2. To identify in which areas students see themselves performing professionally in the near future.
3. To reflect on the skills necessary for each professional field.

Syllabus
The professional profiles that are exposed are:
- Sports psychology.
- Psychology and coaching.
- Psychology and social services.
- Psychology and perinatal health.
- Animal Assisted Therapy.
- Psychology of Human Resources.
- Research in psychology.
- Clinical psychology.
- Reference of emotional well-being.
- Psychology in a prison.
- Mediation and psychology of emergencies.
- Psychology and addictions.
- General health psychologist.
Teaching and learning activities
In person
In each of the 14 sessions a psychologist with a different profile attends to explain his professional experience. Each session is led by a group of students who are in charge of introducing the speaker and moderating the discussion.
All sessions follow the following structure:
- Presentation of the speaker by a group of students.
- Presentation of the speaker (45-50 min)
- Colloquium moderated by students.
On the first day of class, the list of student groups is provided with the day they have to lead the session. Each group is shared with the professional's contact one week before the session they have to lead so that they can meet him and prepare their presentation.

| Lectures will be the setting in which students will learn and use the terminology and linguistic structures related to the sphere of study, for the purpose of practising and developing oral and written communication skills and becoming familiar with the literature and instruction materials provided to better integrate the curricular content. | Debates and discussion in large and small groups, which help develop the students’ critical thinking and judgement skills. This method encourages participation and initiative, the asking of constructive questions and the presentation of new problems that promote critical thinking. |
Evaluation systems and criteria
In person
Class attendance is mandatory and essential to pass the subject. The student may only have a maximum of 3 absences that must be duly justified. If the number of absences allowed is exceeded, it will not be possible to pass the course.
The evaluation of the subject will be carried out through a written reflection on the sessions. In addition, the presentation and moderation of the session carried out by each group of students and the participation in the colloquium will be evaluated.
- Reflection: 60%
- Session moderation: 30%
- Participation in the colloquium: 10%
In the reflection, the spelling regulations of the degree will be taken into account, according to which in the works written by hand each misspelling deducts 0.1 points. Presentation and grammar will be taken into account in the assessment and if a work does not meet the minimum requirements, the teacher may reject the work.
