Introduction

We will try to integrate the basic skills necessary for the management of a biomedical project.

Pre-course requirements

No prerequisites

Objectives

Train highly competent future professionals, with the ability to adapt, analyze and learn, who can manage the different needs of the biomedical industry and leading both changes and teams of people.

Develop negotiation skills to reach agreements internally in a company (relationships between departments) and externally (between companies).

Develop basic project management skills for working in companies with a high degree of outsourcing.

Competences/Learning outcomes of the degree programme

Basic skills:

CB1: That the student body demonstrates possession and understanding of knowledge in an area of study that is based on education in biomedical sciences and that involves knowledge from finance and business administration.

CB4: That the student body can transmit information, ideas, problems, and solutions to both a specialized and non-specialized audience.

 

General competencies:

CG2: Integrate the basic concepts related to the biomedical industry both at a theoretical and work level.

CG7: Acquire versatility in the work positions of a biomedical company.

Specific competencies:

CE7: Integrate the vocabulary necessary to carry out the necessary institutional relationships within a biomedical company.

CE8: Be able to clearly communicate a work plan.

CE10: Be able to carry out a fictitious negotiation to reach an agreement with a possible supplier, client, or industrial partner.

Learning outcomes of the subject

At the end of the course, the student:

Have acquired advanced knowledge in the different areas of the biomedical industry and the most used methodologies within companies.

- Biomedical project management

- Management of multidisciplinary teams

- Asymmetric negotiation, valuation of intangible assets, value creation through creative negotiation

- Communication as a tool to achieve objectives: inform, influence, report. Non-confidential and confidential communication, data room. Pitch

Teaching and learning activities

In person



• Master classes: Presentation of the contents of the subject orally by a teacher with secondary participation by the students.

• Expository classes: Oral presentation, by the students, of a topic or work carried out and which is presented to the rest of their classmates. Students can also benefit from some type of written presentation.

• Conferences: Participation in a scientific or technical topic carried out by an expert in a specific subject. It will be related, in some way, to the sequencing of content of a certain subject, to ensure the integration of this type of teaching methodology in the subject in which it is located.

• Problem solving: In this type of activity, the teacher presents a complex question that the students must solve, either individually or as a team.

• Information search: Actively carried out by students, it is focused on the acquisition of knowledge autonomously, as well as training for the acquisition of skills and attitudes related to the need to obtain information in a discriminative way.

• Practical classes: Any activity developed through some type of professional technical procedure, always based on the conceptual contents of the master's degree and following its reasoning.

Evaluation systems and criteria

In person



Class participation and attitude: 20%

Multiple choice exam: 20%

Pitch: 60%

General points to consider about the evaluation system:

You must attend at least 80% of the sessions to pass the subject.

You must obtain a 5 or more in the multiple-choice exam to pass the subject.

Participation in class is understood as the contribution of interesting ideas or the raising of pertinent questions that help improve the quality of the session.
