I got my Master´s degree medical biotechnology at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia in 2013. At that time, I was strongly determined to pursue my PhD abroad. For this, I was awarded with a highly competitive Marie Skłodowska-Curie ITN to perform my PhD studies in the group of Mariona Graupera in IDIBELL. Here, I got the unique and exciting opportunity to start from zero a new research line in the group, studying the reciprocal, and until recently underestimated, interaction between blood vessels and adipose tissue. This opportunity allowed me to grow up both as a scientist and as a person. I acquired independence, l learned how to lead and develop a project, I set up a great variety of techniques and I definitely understood the importance of networking and collaboration, not only within your team but with everyone willing to share his/her knowledge with you. I got my PhD thesis in 2017 and I agreed to continue in the group as a postdoctoral researcher due to the exciting and promising results we were obtaining. Now, I am glad to see, that the time and effort we inverted in this work was certainly worthy and I am really proud of what we achieved exploring a scientific field completely new for us.
I am currently looking for a job, I am strongly interested in metabolism and mostly adipose tissue. It's undeniable that obesity and metabolic disorder are quite relevant nowadays and I hope to get the chance to contribute with my grain of sand in this field.
