The twentieth anniversary of the United Nation’s International Year of the Family has led the Institute for Advanced Family Studies in the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya to organise the II International Conference on Family and Society: Family and Sustainable Development.
During the Conference, the Santander ISFamily Chair (lntergenerational Solidarity in the Family), which was set up by the Institute for Advanced Family Studies, will be presented. The presentation of the World Family Map Project will also take place within the event.
The offical languages of the Conference are English and Spanish.
The Conference aims to highlight the key role the family plays in the sustainable development of society. Family is the key to achieving the Millennium Development Goals set out by the UN, among which eradicating world poverty, universal education and the reduction of infant mortality are highlighted. The concept of family also lies at the heart of the European Commission’s Europe 2020 Growth Strategy, in order to achieve objectives in the areas of education, social inclusion and employment.
There will be plenary sessions and parallel workshop sessions, as well as paper and poster presentations.
The conference will be divided into four subject areas:
Family and Policies
Family and Economy
Family and Education
Family and Health
The II International Conference on Family and Society invites any proposals that promote fruitful discussion in these thematic areas.
Theoretical and empirical approaches to these issues are welcome. Contributions from both academics and practitioners are encouraged.
