Introduction

In the event that the health authorities announce a new period of confinement due to the evolution of the health crisis caused by COVID-19, the teaching staff will promptly communicate how this may effect the teaching methodologies and activities as well as the assessment.


The course aims to familiarize students with the processes that make it possible to carry out a project in the field of television and professional audiovisual production. All issues related to the main stages of the audiovisual project will be analyzed: pre-production, production and post-production.

Pre-course requirements

No specific prerequisites are required to pursue this subject. However, it is advisable to have previously completed the following subjects: Advertising Language, Plato, Television Communication (First course); Advertising Language Workshop (Second course) and Audiovisual Narrative Techniques (Third course).

Objectives

The main objective of the subject is to teach students to become aware of all the phases and tasks that make up the process of realization and production of an audiovisual project, emphasizing the realization of different television genres, advertising , report, etc. It will try to give a concrete vision of all the theoretical and organizational phase of preproduction, as well as the phase of production, more practical stage where the previous knowledge converge with the creative capacity of realization.

As secondary objectives, they are the consolidation of the knowledge of the language and audiovisual narrative, and the capacity of analysis of the own techniques of accomplishment of the different sorts from the televising means.

Learning outcomes of the subject

 

  • The student's learning outcomes once the subject has been taken are as follows:
  • To know the different stages of the process of creating an audiovisual project: from the initial idea and the pre-production, to the final production and post-production.
  • Distinguish the different agents and roles that make up the production of an audiovisual project.
  • To know how to work an audiovisual commission, executing each and every one of the phases of creation of the project.
  • Know how to present a project and grant document in television format, clearly presenting the ideas and making the proposal attractive.
  • Know how to draw up the different documents that are needed in the production process: from a production budget to a sheet center, storyboard, etc.
  • Have organizational skills and know how to lead teams.
  • Achieve the technical bases of audiovisual narration applied to different genres of television production.
  • Use audiovisual narrative resources to be able to adequately express creativity through models, moodboards, etc.
  • Know how to use different expressive techniques of the audiovisual.

Teaching and learning activities

The work methodology of the subject is based on a previous theoretical knowledge that will be put into practice through the different exercises that will be developed during the course. The objective of the practices (which will be individual and group) is to know all the phases and processes that make up the production of a tv commercial.

TRAINING ACTIVITY:
  • Lectures. In lectures, lecturers/professors not only transmit content or knowledge, but also, and above all else, attitudes, motivation, skills and values, etc. They also ensure that participants can express their opinions and arguments to the other students.
  • Seminar. This activity will consist of taking an in-depth look at specific up-to-date topics in a monographic manner-in some cases these topics will have been debated socially-, via active work in small groups.
  • Meeting Point. Meetings will be organised with notable people from the professional and scientific fields or the international field, and students. These sessions will take the form of conferences, work sessions, discussions, or interviews, etc.
  • Coaching. Monitoring how students learn the content of the subject, either individually or in groups. In the coaching sessions, mistakes will be corrected, queries answered, and exercises and activities to achieve the established objectives will be suggested.

All exercises and exams must be submitted online.

Exams

 

1 Partial exam. Individual. 25%

2 Partial Exam: Presentation and Final Exercise Video Project. 25%

 

In order to pass this class, students must complete all exercises and exams. In case a student failed, he/she would have to:

- Do an exam of all class contents (50%), create a Production Document (30%), and handle a paper (20%)
