Promoting social wellbeing, cohesion and dialogue is today more important than ever
 

Contemporary societies are facing growing divisions across political, cultural, social, economic and technological lines, putting social cohesion, institutional trust and the ability to build shared projects to the test. In this context, caring for society is a key challenge in safeguarding the common good and strengthening the ties that bind our communities. For this reason, the theme of this year’s Student Academic Conference will be “Caring for Society in a Polarised World”.

Polarisation affects not only public debate and collective decision-making but also has an impact on interpersonal relationships, mental health, family life, organisations and social cohesion. This context calls for a fresh perspective on care across all fields of knowledge, as a concept which connects science, art and everyday life.

The aim of this edition is to examine, through academic rigour and scientific research, how society can be cared for in a context of increasing polarisation. The conference seeks to promote interdisciplinary and cross-cutting dialogue and generate new perspectives and responses to the social challenges of the 21st century.
