The From Cell Metabolism to Metabolic Diseases group is interested in studying how little-known metabolic pathways, in particular lipid-sensing pathways and polyphosphate metabolism, affect the physiology of organs and systems, as well as the physiology of polyphosphate. This can lead to the development of metabolic diseases such as obesity and diabetes, or diseases with an important metabolic component such as cancer and neurodegenerative disorders.
The study of the structure-function of the regulatory proteins of these pathways and the design of nanomedicines targeting these proteins and specifically cancer cells and neurons is another focus of the group.
