Introduction

The subject is designed to contribute to the acquisition of knowledge about the opportunities that new technologies and especially artificial intelligence can offer to students of any of the degrees in communication sciences. In a more specific way, it deals with the use of artificial intelligence at the service of audiovisual communication. From this same point of view of AI, the impact on the market of content creation and distribution is also addressed, especially VOD and streaming video and audio platforms, as well as the incorporation of different types of virtual reality. and metaverse experiences.

Objectives

The objective is to get to know and become familiar with the changes in the hand of AI. To work with some of the most powerful and successful AI tools. To offer an overview of AI resources that can be accessed free of charge. To see the professional use we can make of them, as well as the dangers to which we are exposed if their use is not ethically appropriate.

Learning outcomes of the subject

After completing the course, students should be able to critically understand any information about AI that appears in the media. They will also learn about the past and future possibilities of this technology. They will know a toolbox for incorporating AI into their projects. They will know the impact it has on the audiovisual industry and the impact it is likely to have in the coming years.

Teaching and learning activities

In person



The methodology consists only of acquiring some knowledge and putting it into practice, but it will also be aimed at developing the ability to generate content and give it an appropriate presentation format so that it can be easily understood by anyone. Each topic will be worked on by small groups of students and most of the work will be carried out in the classroom using tools, analyzing specific cases, promoting debates or seeking information on the topic that corresponds to each session.

 

TRAINING ACTIVITY  ECTS CREDITS
Peer learning. With this activity it is intended that students gain analytical skills and critical skills. One way to achieve this is to correct exercises, products, etc. from their own peers. Each student will obtain a double evaluation: as a receiver and as a transmitter of critical knowledge. 0.6
Master class. In master classes, the teacher not only transmits content or knowledge, but also, and above all, attitudes, motivation, aptitudes, values, etc. It also makes it easier for attendees to express their opinions and arguments in front of the rest of the students. 1.0
Lab. Work groups in which theory and practice are combined. In them the objective is not so much to exercise already known techniques, but to advance both theory and technique. The Lab will culminate in a professional or semi-professional product. 1.0
Meeting point. Meeting points will be organized between personalities from the professional, scientific, international world, etc. and the students. They will be given the form of a conference, work session, social gathering, interview, et 0.4
Coaching. Monitoring, individually or in very small groups, of how students assimilate the contents of the subject. In the coaching sessions, defects will be corrected, doubts will be clarified, exercises and activities necessary to achieve the objectives set will be proposed.  0.4

Evaluation systems and criteria

In person



First call: Assessment will be continuous. The development of the subject will be done in teams of two or three students. Each team will make a report at the end of the class on the subject dealt with that day. The average of the contributions of the topics will be worth 40%. The completion of the reports on each topic and their presentation in class will be worth 40%. A final individual test exam will add the remaining 20%.

Second call: It will consist of an individual synthesis work of the five topics covered 70% and a test exam 30%.

Third and subsequent examinations: An individual paper will be submitted consisting of a collection of reports covering each of the subjects covered in the syllabus.

In all cases, special emphasis will be placed on creativity in the content, presentation and presentation of the work.
