Homo pictor: understanding humanity through imagination and creation
UIC Barcelona is set to host the 16th International Congress of the Hispanic Society of Philosophical Anthropology, a space for reflection on an idea as old as it is relevant: humans as homo pictor, one who imagines, depicts and creates. From this perspective, the ability to create images emerges as a fundamental act that shapes our relationship with the world and with ourselves.
The aim of this congress is to explore this core human experience from an integrative and cross-disciplinary perspective. Artistic creation, imagination, skill, the impact of new technologies – including artificial intelligence – and today’s ecological challenges raise crucial questions about humans’ place as creator. To question homo pictor today is to question our own self-understanding in a constantly shifting landscape.
UIC Barcelona and the Hispanic Society of Philosophical Anthropology (SHAF) invite researchers, teaching staff, students and anyone interested to take part in this event.
