The opening ceremony for the 2025–2026 academic year will take place on 15 October at 12.00 in the University’s Aula Magna (Immaculada, 22, Barcelona).

• Reading of the 2024-2025 academic year report by the secretary-general of the University, Belén Castro.

• Keynote lecture: “Bioengineering: a history of the future of humanity” by Dr Josep Samitier, director of the Institute of Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) and professor of Electronics and Biomedical Engineering in the Department of Electronic and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Barcelona.

• Opening address for the academic year by the rector of the University, Dr Alfonso Méndiz

• Closing speech by the Honourable Ms Núria Montserrat, Minister for Research and Universities of the Government of Catalonia
