Final: UIC Barcelona Singing Competition in memory of Conxita Badia

Faculty of Education Sciences

From September 30 to October 3, UIC Barcelona will host the first edition of the UIC Barcelona Singing Competition in memory of Conxita Badia. The aim of the contest is to develop and professionalise the talent of young singers through a competition that encourages their artistic careers.

On 3 October at 5 p.m. the final phase “Voice and soul: Grand Prix in memory of Conxita Badia”, a live gala open to the public, will take place in the Aula Magna of the University. The finalists will perform a selection of works, each within a maximum time of twenty minutes, in a gala where a professional jury will decide the winner of the Grand Prize in memory of Conxita Badia.

During the gala, a series of Special Prizes will also be awarded to all participants, with the participation of the AprÒpera Association of Sant Cugat del Vallès; the Barcelona Festival of Song (BFOS), and tenor Josep Bros, among others.

The Faculty of Education Sciences lecturer Carolina Estrada is leading the “Conxita Badia: A Voice for Catalan Culture” research project. The competition is organised by UIC Barcelona and has a multidimensional approach to preserving the heritage and cultural identity of Catalonia, and has the approval and support of the Department of Culture of the Government of Catalunya.
