Global Encounters: China
The Vice-Rectorate for International Relations is organising a new edition of Global Encounters, a series of conferences aimed at bringing international culture and knowledge to the UIC Barcelona community, with the goal of strengthening and promoting internationalisation on both campuses.
The Global Encounters programme will begin on 10 February with a conference on culture, diplomacy and Chinese traditions. The event is organised in collaboration with the Confucius Institute of Barcelona Foundation and will include the notable participation of the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China, Ms Meng, as well as a contribution from Huawei as a special guest. The event is open to all members of the university community, as well as external guests through the University’s official channels.
Programme:
- 10.30 – Welcome coffee
- 11.00 – Greeting from the rector, Dr Alfonso Méndiz, in the Saló de Graus
- 11.15 – Presentation on Chinese culture by the consul general, Ms Meng Yuhong, in the Saló de Graus
- 12.00 – Lecture by Ms Olga Fuentes, industry representative for Huawei, in the Saló de Graus
- 13.00 – Lion dance performance in Passeig de la Fontana
- 13.15 – Lunch break
- 14.00 – Workshop: “Chinese Characters: Much More than Writing” in the Saló de Graus
- 15.15 – Workshop: “Get in Shape: Introduction to Qigong” outdoors in the garden
This Global Encounter provides a unique opportunity to gain first-hand insight into China’s institutional, cultural and business landscape and promote intercultural dialogue within the university community.
