Senior University Programme in Culture, Science and Society in Andorra

The UIC Barcelona Experience Campus has a section in Andorra, at the headquarters of the Andorran Credit Foundation, which offers the people living in the country the university programme for the over 50s at the UIC Barcelona Experience Campus. 

The subjects are drawn from the following areas of knowledge: History, art, philosophy, literature, science, technology, law, economics, sociology, psychology and health sciences, as a basis for examining current culture, science and society in depth.

Classes are taught at the headquarters of Fundació de Crèdit Andorrà.

Dates

October 2nd -June 9th

Times

Once a month, face-to-face classes on Wednesdays from 11.00 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. and from 3.30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Virtual classes the other Wednesdays, from 3.30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Subjects 1st year

1st semester

• History of Music.
• Gothic art from the Andorra area.
• Geography of the world today, I.
• Renaissance and Baroque art (16th to 18th centuries).
• Classical Culture.
• The languages of Europe.

2nd semester

• Science, technology and society: keys to understanding the 21st century.
• Fun math II.
• History of Andorra II.
• War and peace in the 20th century.
• Science for non-scientists.
• Themes of current philosophy.

Methodology

Dynamic and participatory, including face-to-face and virtual classes and individual and group work.

Teachers will introduce their subjects with two face-to-face classes and teach the following sessions virtually at the headquarters of Fundació Crèdit Andorrà.

Assessment: pass or fail. 80% attendance and active participation are required. There are no exams.

Students who have successfully completed all three years will receive a Diploma from the UIC Barcelona Senior University Programme in Culture, Science and Society (Andorra Section). This is not a university degree programme.

How to enrol. Prerequisites and admissions

The Experience Campus is aimed at the over-50s.

No previous qualifications are required.

As the number of places is limited, they will be awarded in order of enrolment.
