Lecturers Fuertes, Albareda, Fernández and Fuentes take part in a European project on innovative teaching materials

The aim is to stimulate group processes in pre-primary school children by increasing their level of motivation and their acquisition of STEM competences.

Lecturers Maite Fuertes, Sílvia Albareda, Mónica Fernández and Mariana Fuentes from the Faculty of Education are taking part in an Erasmus+ European project granted in October. The Spanish part of the project is being coordinated by Dr Fuertes.

The project entitled “Kitchen Lab for Kids” will last three years. The aim is to develop innovative teaching materials to stimulate group processes in pre-primary school children by increasing their level of motivation and their acquisition of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) competences with the food transformation process and what happens in the kitchen being the main educational resource.

The project analyses the relationship between early development of abilities and a later increase in educational performance as well as the use of competences over the course of the life cycle.

Moreover, UIC Barcelona is a partner in the project coordinated by Jesuit Ignatianum University in Cracow, alongside Politecnico di Milano; Università di Roma LUMSA and Dublin City University.
