Introduction

In the Master's Thesis, students will put into practice the knowledge acquired throughout the program regarding clinical and materials research. The supervising professor will be a specialist in the relevant field, who will monitor the work. This thesis may have a clinical or research focus and must strictly adhere to the protocol designed and approved during the first semester of the Master's program, which will have established a working hypothesis and specific objectives. Once the study results are obtained, the student must prepare a written report of their clinical or research work, following the criteria of scientific rigor learned during the Master's program.

The clinical Master's Thesis will focus on the review of a specific pathology or therapeutic technique in a patient, where the student has directly participated in decision-making or has personally performed the treatments. A thorough literature review, knowledge of the theoretical principles of pathologies, and a high level of surgical skill are required to be eligible for this type of Master's Thesis.

The research-oriented Master's Thesis will consist of laboratory research on topics or materials related to the fields of dental aesthetics and prosthodontics. Based on previous studies (both internal to the U.I.C. and external) and following the principles of the scientific method, research projects may be designed to provide further information by refining the numerous variables that arise in clinical practice.
