Introduction

The course aims to develop in students the sensitivity and critical perspective necessary to observe their own environment and to discover within it the potential to analyse, reflect upon and represent reality through an audiovisual reportage.

This is an eminently practical course, based on the development of specific group tasks corresponding to professional roles according to the stages of audiovisual reportage production (with medium-length duration), from the thematic selection phase, through research, planning of staging, and final editing of a medium-length film that responds to one of the genre formats reviewed in class.

Students will be divided into working teams of four members: two from the Audiovisual Communication degree and two from the Journalism degree per group. Each member will fulfil specific professional roles within the respective phases of pre-production, production and post-production of the reportage.

General aspects

-Continuous assessment. There is no exam.

-Therefore, and given that this is an eminently practical course, class attendance is 100% compulsory.

-It is essential to demonstrate a proactive attitude of involvement in the course, autonomy and rigour in meeting deadlines and work guidelines.

-A grade equal to or higher than 5 must be obtained in each of the following assessments in order to pass the course.

Average of weekly follow-ups:

30%

Written research report for the reportage:

15%

Literary script:

15%

Final reportage:

40%

Second Examination Period (Resit Examination)

If the course is failed in continuous assessment (because one of the grades is below 5 or due to attendance issues), a resit examination covering all theoretical contents of the course must be passed on the dates scheduled for the second examination period.

Only those students who have obtained a grade below 5 in the final audiovisual reportage must also submit an improved version of it. In this case, the grades of the theoretical and practical exams will be averaged equally (only if a grade higher than 5 has been obtained in both parts). To pass the course, a grade higher than 5 must be obtained in both parts.

The second examination period examination will be equivalent to 100% of the final grade, and a grade higher than 5 must be obtained in order to pass the course.

Other Examination Periods

In the third examination period and subsequent ones, the course must be retaken.

*The instructor reserves the right to fail students who do not meet minimum standards of initiative and participation during the process.

*Faculty regulations regarding spelling mistakes and plagiarism will be strictly observed.
