Objectives

  • Be able to evaluate the relevant clinical conditions so that a comprehensive treatment plan can be designed and appropriate treatment provided, taking into consideration individual patient needs and expectations.
  • Have comprehensive knowledge of the interrelationships of orthodontic, therapies and periodontal treatment

Competences/Learning outcomes of the degree programme

At the end of the course the student will be able to establish initial relationships between  Orthodontics and:

  1. Generalities Of Periodontal Disease.
  2. Mucogingival Therapies.
  3. Intrusion An Extrusion.
  4. Fibrotomy.
  5. Corticotomy In Orthodontic Treatment.
  6. Occlusal Trauma.
  7. Posterior Bite Collapse.
  8. Treatment Of Dental Agenesia.
  9. Implants And Dental Autotransplantation.
  10. Treatment And Analysis Of The Aesthetic Zone.

Learning outcomes of the subject

The results of this workshop will allow students to develop the ability to focus in a practical way the theoretical knowledge learned during the academic year and establish a Orthodontics-Periodontics treatment that meets the needs and requirements of each individual treatment.

Syllabus

The following subjects will be reviewed from a clinical/practical orientation:

  1. Generalities Of Periodontal Disease.
  2. Mucogingival Therapies.
  3. Intrusion An Extrusion.
  4. Fibrotomy.
  5. Corticotomy In Orthodontic Treatment.
  6. Occlusal Trauma.
  7. Posterior Bite Collapse.
  8. Treatment Of Dental Agenesia.

  10. Treatment And Analysis Of The Aesthetic Zone.

Teaching and learning activities

In person



The students based on recent bibliography prepare each seminar. Cases treated by the periodontics and orthodontic departments of the University together, over the past 10 years, will be discussed, on a diagnosis-prognosis-treatment planning basis.

Evaluation systems and criteria

In person



At the end of the complete course, the students will do an exam and must get 7 out of 10 to pass. If a student doesn’t get this score, he/she must repeat the exam after 1 week.
