Observatory of the Invisible

An immersive art and spirituality experience

The Observatory of the Invisible (OI) is a summer school for students from different artistic disciplines, developed through an immersive art and spirituality experience at the Monastery of Guadalupe, Caceres.

It is carried out through practical disciplinary workshops in which each student signs up and participates with a renowned artist.

2023 edition: “Mary, hidden river, temple of art.” 17 to 22 July.

The following disciplinary workshops are offered in this edition:

  • Pietro Sarubbi - Theatre
  • Ignacio Yepes - Music
  • Nino de Elche - Vocal expression
  • Jesús Montiel - Scripture
  • Antonio Ruz - Dance
  • Samlo - Drawing
  • Benjamín Cano - Architecture
  • Valentín Vallhonrat - Commissariat

There will also be concerts, recitals, exhibitions by workshops and interdisciplinary artistic evenings.

Location: Monastery of Guadalupe, Caceres

The Observatory of the Invisible is held at the Monastery of Guadalupe, Caceres, historical centre of spirituality and artistic creation in which the best pictorial, sculptural, architectural and musical tradition is brought together surrounded by authors of the standing of Zurbarán, Goya, El Greco or Luca Giordano.

Attendees will live in the cloister of the Guesthouse, and the workshops will take place in the Monastery facilities. The interdisciplinary nature of the meeting offers the opportunity to live together with more than 100 students and professionals and form bonds and make memories.

Registrations and UIC Barcelona grants

To contribute to the holistic training of students in complementary activities and thereby enrich the knowledge acquired in their studies, the University gives the following discounts:

  • SAC Grants: €150 for UIC Barcelona students who were actively involved in the Student Academic Conference 2023: Caring for the Future (SAC) at the discretion of its Steering Committee. Before registering on the OI website, students must apply for the grant by writing to uicsac@uic.es *
  • CIP grant: grant for 50% of the total registration fee (€300) among applicants from the university community.

* The grant application does not secure a place in the OI workshops, which are governed by their own selection criteria.

The Observatory of the Invisible is a project of the VIA Foundation, founded by a group of artists from different disciplines among which are top artists such as composer and conductor Ignacio Yepes, architect Benjamín Cano, painter María Tarruella or the sculptor Javier Viver and whose honorary president is Antonio López. It aims to promote art and artists through renewal and integration of the different artistic disciplines and research, training and exchange of experiences and knowledge.
