Beginnings and Endings, or How to Reimagine Time

Faculty of Humanities

Valeria Luiselli, one of the most prominent voices in contemporary literature, will deliver a lecture entitled “Principios y finales o de cómo volver a tramar nuestro tiempo” (Beginnings and Endings, or How to Reimagine Time), a proposal that encourages us to rethink how we document the world around us and the role fiction plays in understanding time, memory and reality.

An internationally acclaimed Mexican writer, Luiselli is the author of novels and essays translated into more than twenty languages, which address issues such as migration, territory and language from a literary and critical perspective. Her work has appeared in leading publications such as The New YorkerGranta and The New York Times and has received some of the most prestigious awards in international literature, including the MacArthur Fellowship (2019), the Dublin Literary Award, the American Book Award, the Folio Prize and two Los Angeles Times Book Prizes.
