Can Positive Social Impact be Measured?

Faculty of Education Sciences Rooms P0A01 and P0A02

On 3 July, the Faculty of Education Sciences is hosting a day to introduce and validate a calculator designed to measure the positive social impact of individual actions. The session is organised by the Educlima research project, led by lecturer and researcher Sílvia Albareda, with the participation of researchers from the Faculties of Medicine, Economic and Social Sciences, and Humanities at UIC Barcelona, as well as from six other Spanish universities. The event will feature experts in care, social promotion, and global justice.

Speakers at the round table:

  • Dr. Josep Argemí. Professor of Medicine. Rector of UIC Barcelona from 2001 to 2010.
  • Ms. Adela Suñer. Corporate Social Responsibility consultant, collaborates with Caritas Barcelona. Expert in the Economy for the Common Good.
  • Ms. Roser Bosch. Member of Justice and Peace. Director of the project "Art Descalç per la Terra."
  • Ms. Esther Franquet i Barnils. Director of the Nursing Department at Fundació Puigvert.

The aim of the day is to share the positive social footprint calculator, one of the main pillars of the Educlima project, with the public. This tool allows for the measurement of intangible actions and is inspired by concepts such as the care economy, the economy of the common good, and ecofeminism, among others. Some of the issues addressed by the calculator include measuring the care we provide to our family and friends, or our active involvement in social and humanitarian causes, making the invisible visible.

The open science initiative aims to bring the project's results closer to the public, involving attendees in the dilemmas presented by the calculator during its development, and opening a process of citizen science through active participation and dialogue.

The event will take place in rooms P0A01 and P0A02 at the Sant Cugat campus of UIC Barcelona, starting at 10.00 and ending at 13.00, followed by a lunch.

The day is open to all those interested in social promotion and care, and you can register through the following form.
