Ibero-American Architecture Conference

School of Architecture

The idea behind the Ibero-American Architecture Conference, organised by the UIC Barcelona School of Architecture and curated by lecturer Fredy Massad, is to provide rigorous insight into professional practice, construction and architectural research across Ibero-America, with consideration for the diverse social, cultural, economic and territorial contexts that shape the region. Through its programme, it explores how architecture responds – from a range of local perspectives – to some of the major challenges of the 21st century.

Open to all, the event is intended for architecture professionals, teachers and students, with the aim of fostering academic and professional exchange on contemporary architecture in Ibero-America. The Conference will be held on July 23 and 24 at Saló de Graus, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Programme

The programme will combine lectures with a final discussion session. The first day will feature three 50-minute lectures, while the second will be divided into two 50-minute lectures followed by a 60-minute discussion session, with 45 minutes of conversation and a Q&A with the audience. This session will be moderated by Íñigo Ugalde, director of the UIC Barcelona School of Architecture, and Fredy Massad, member of the School’s teaching staff and an architecture critic.
