The 9th Filmmaking Showcase brings together the youngest students of the faculty
The Audiovisual Communication students of the Faculty of Communication Sciences participated in the ninth edition of the Filmmaking Showcase, the Faculty's quintessential extracurricular activity, which this year was held in the Aula Jardí, adorned with a red carpet for the occasion. Ignasi Guerrero, alumni member and creative director at 'Btcom', coordinated this year's showcase.
The titles chosen for the remakes were La La Land, The Queen's Gambit, and Psycho. "When you break down a film scene, you become aware of all the work behind each shot you want to make," explained Ignasi Guerrero, who tutored the students participating in the activity. The former student mentioned that he relied on what the students wanted to come up with the most creative way to create the scene.
Jan Hernández, a first-year Audiovisual Communication student, was one of the students who donned a gala suit and took to the stage to introduce the remakes of his classmates and remember some of the anecdotes during filming. "During the recreation of Psycho, we broke the toilet lid at a classmate's parents' house to get the best shot," he recalled with a smile. "I have learned to work as a team and highly value the professionalism with which we took on the task," he added. His classmate Ricardo Ortea, who had already won an Imma Award 2025 for the fiction production The Penguin, also presented the gala.

The 2025 edition was mainly represented by first and second-year Audiovisual Communication students, who were fortunate to have an entrepreneurial professional and graduate of UIC Barcelona Ignasi Guerrero, accompany them through all the phases of the exercise. Just as in real life, the students encountered some obstacles. One example was the remake of the scene from La La Land with Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone; while the original film had a clear light, during their filming fog had completely covered the selected scene, giving it a more eerie tone.
Although competitiveness is not the goal of this event, attendees were able to vote for the best recreations. The list of winners was as follows:
Winners
- Best Director of Photography: Iker Formatjer
- Best Actor: Diego Lasheras
- Best Runner (Production): Marcos Küppers
- Best Sound Technician: Paula Fernández
- Best Location: Carla Lis
Both the technical team (director, director of photography, costume, etc.) and the artistic team (actors and extras) are made up of students from the Faculty. "Filmmaking" is an excellent way of fostering teamwork and an opportunity for students to get first-hand experience of the production and shooting of a film.
