Academic exchange: North-West University visits UIC Barcelona as part of the Erasmus+ K171 programme
UIC Barcelona is hosting two visits from North-West University (South Africa) during this academic year, as part of the Erasmus+ K171 programme
Lecturers Mariaan Stofberg and Henriette Hammill, experts in biokinetics and biomechanics, have completed a one-week stay at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. During their visit, they met with researchers from the Department of Physiotherapy, delivered information sessions about their home institution, and toured leading healthcare and sports centres, including the Centre d’Alt Rendiment (CAR) in Sant Cugat, a high-performance sports centre; the Institut Guttmann, a renowned neurorehabilitation hospital; and the Medical Service at FC Barcelona’s Ciutat Esportiva, the club’s sports complex.
In addition, doctoral student Lenthea Kamffer, a graduate in biokinetics and currently pursuing a PhD in Human Movement Sciences, will undertake a four-month placement within the Department of Physiotherapy and other research groups at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.
Both visits are funded through Erasmus+ K171 grants, which promote international mobility for students, teaching staff and researchers in countries outside the European Union, thereby strengthening academic and scientific cooperation.
