The CAU launches a new commission to boost architecture at UIC Barcelona

The University Advisory Board (CAU) adds new members and a new commission dedicated to promoting the School of Architecture, under the management of Francisco Diéguez

On 6 March, UIC Barcelona hosted an institutional breakfast at the Barcelona campus to welcome the members of the new Architecture Commission within the University Advisory Board (CAU). This commission was created with the aim of promoting the UIC Barcelona School of Architecture, providing strategies and initiatives that enhance its reputation and academic excellence.

The members of this new commission include Mr Francisco Diéguez, general manager of ITeC, as president; Dr Víctor Echarri, director of the School of Architecture; Mr Salvador Fernández, from Cementos Molins Industrial, S.A.U.; Ms Anna Gener, from Savills; Ms Anna Guanter, from Culmia; Ms Goretti Torrella, from TORRELLA Ingeniería y Arquitectura; Mr Josep Túnica, from JG Ingenieros; and Ms Anna Vallés, from Sorigué.

During the meeting, the main lines of work and objectives of this new commission were addressed, whose mission will be to strengthen the academic and professional positioning of the School of Architecture. Mr Francesc Homs, the CAU president, said, “This new commission represents a fantastic opportunity to continue establishing the School of Architecture as a benchmark in architectural education, committed to innovation and academic excellence.”

CAU director Mr Juan Pablo Garrido highlighted the significance of this new stage and expressed gratitude to all the professionals involved, “The CAU serves as a platform for exchanging ideas and experiences, strengthening the link between the University and society. The addition of this commission will allow us to bring in new perspectives and strategies to ensure our continued growth.”

Also in attendance was Mr Joan de Dou, representing the Board of Trustees, reaffirming institutional support for this new phase of the CAU.

Currently, the CAU comprises more than ninety distinguished figures from civil society, who, through various working commissions, contribute to the academic and institutional development of UIC Barcelona in areas such as communication, education, health, culture, law, architecture, and business.  Their work focuses on strategic advisory and social promotion of the University, reinforcing its commitment to excellence and the comprehensive education of its students.
