The Consorci Sanitari de Terrassa (CST) and UIC Barcelona join forces to strengthen clinical teaching and research

The two entities have jointly launched the first Academic Day, “Exploring opportunities” – an initiative aimed at strengthening the links between clinical practice and academia.

The event, held in the main auditorium of Consorci Sanitari de Terrassa (CST), brought together healthcare professionals, lecturers and researchers from the University to share experiences, projects and perspectives on how teaching and research can be integrated into the daily work of healthcare teams.

This event marked a new step in the strategic collaboration between UIC Barcelona and CST, a university hospital affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, to bring the world of academia closer to healthcare professionals and create strong links between the hospital and the University.

During the session, participants were introduced to the active lines of research at UIC Barcelona, presented by researchers from various departments within the Faculty. A participatory format encouraged academic and healthcare staff to exchange ideas, generate synergies and explore new opportunities to collaborate.

As Dr Esther Calbo, dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, noted, “This joint initiative strengthens our commitment to CST as we continue to develop an academic model focused on delivering comprehensive, innovative training that is connected to the current realities of the healthcare system. At the same time, collaboration between universities and university hospitals is essential to building a regional network and a community committed to teaching, research, healthcare and service.”

In addition to its agreement with the Consorci Sanitari de Terrassa, UIC Barcelona maintains collaborations with other university centres, including the Hospital General de Granollers and the Hospital Universitari General de Catalunya. These institutions share UIC Barcelona’s strategic pillars of education, research, care and a commitment to service – values that were
clearly reflected throughout this first Academic Day.
