The Experience Campus travels to Udine with the Erasmus+ programme
A cultural and academic immersion for UIC Barcelona’s senior students
From 6 to 10 April, thirteen students from the Experience Campus – from the Barcelona, Penedès and Andorra divisions – took part in an enriching Erasmus+ trip to Udine (Italy), as part of the Erasmus+ Senior European mobility programme.
This educational stay in Udine combined academic learning, cultural experiences and intergenerational living in an international environment. During the trip, participants enjoyed a specialist class on Baroque painter Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, as well as a session dedicated to the Modernist architect Raimondo d’Aronco. They also visited iconic landmarks in the city, including the Archbishop’s Palace, the Cathedral and Udine Castle.

One of the highlights of the trip was the Friulian cookery workshop, where the students were able to discover the local cuisine by preparing typical dishes from the region. The group also attended a concert by the rock band Trinity and rounded off the stay with a cultural visit to the nearby city of Gorizia.
The warm welcome from the local community in Udine contributed to the positive atmosphere and success of the experience. The participants returned highly satisfied, both with the academic quality of the activities and the human and cultural dimension of the trip.
International mobility on the rise at the Experience Campus
This trip to Udine is part of a wider initiative by UIC Barcelona to promote international opportunities for its senior students. Over the course of this academic year, sixty students aged over 50 are taking part in Erasmus+ Senior mobility programmes at universities in France, Croatia, Ireland, Italy and Poland. The first of these stays took place in March at Aix-Marseille Université, with further trips scheduled between April and May.
The programme also includes reverse mobility. UIC Barcelona recently welcomed a group of senior students from Zagreb, and another group from Udine is expected to arrive in June, further strengthening educational and cultural ties across Europe.

The Experience Campus is a pioneering university initiative aimed at people over the age of 50, offering a three-year academic programme covering subjects such as history, art, philosophy, literature and the social sciences. Students who complete the course are awarded a Diploma in the Senior University Programme in Culture, Science and Society.
