The Faculty of Dentistry and the company IBO create the Digital Dentistry and New Technologies Classroom
Through this partnership, the Faculty and the company specialised in implantology demonstrate their commitment to research and to its crucial role in educating future dental professionals
The Digital Dentistry and New Technologies Classroom, linked to the Faculty of Dentistry at UIC Barcelona will include Dr Mitchel Chávez as scientific director and Dr Bárbara Pàmies as coordinator, both members of the Faculty’s teaching staff. Through the new company-sponsored classroom, a research project will be launched to analyse the connection between implants and abutments using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), assessing both original abutments and compatible abutments from IBO, a leading manufacturer of dental implant prosthetics.
Aware of the importance of research and education in dentistry for developing solutions and treatments that help improve patients’ health and wellbeing, both institutions have decided to pool their resources to jointly promote scientific activities for the benefit of society.
According to Dr Lluís Giner, dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, “as dental professionals, we are committed to providing our patients the most suitable solutions for each case, and in this, innovation and knowledge transfer play a key role, particularly in the field of implantology.” “By creating this new classroom alongside a leading company like IBO, we can undertake research projects aimed at providing people better oral health care,” added Dr Giner.
With the launch of this new company-sponsored classroom, the Faculty of Dentistry at UIC Barcelona now has four classrooms and seven chairs, facilitating the transfer of the knowledge generated by the University in cooperation with leading dental industry companies to society.
