The job challenges of the future, spotlight of the session for last-year health field students

Three experts in labour market and personnel recruitment spoke about the job challenges that health field students will face when they finish their studies. In a round table discussion, led by Isabella Meneghel, Psychology degree programme lecturer, the guests shared their experience and gave advice about preparing for their professional future to 50 students in different degree programmes at the Sant Cugat Campus

This session is part of a series of sessions organised by UIC Barcelona Alumni & Careers for the University’s two campuses, under the title “Labour market: current trends and impact on the employability of recent graduates.”

On this occasion, the speakers were former students Begona Izquierdo (Law 2022), from Randstad España; Anabel Marin, from Hays, and Òscar Porcel, co-founder of Solutia. They spoke to about fifty students, especially to those in their last-year health degree programmes, about the importance of self-knowledge before professional experience and how to excel in a selection process, among other issues.

The speakers encouraged attendees to be open-minded and not lock themselves into a pre-established scheme of what the profession in their field should be for them. “It is important,” the former law student said, “that you are convinced that your work will transform society.”

At the end of the round table discussion, students were able to talk to the speakers, which is better known as networking. The next session will be held at the Barcelona Campus, on Wednesday, 15 March.
