Mentoring Week promotes personal and professional support for UIC students

The initiative, organised by the Mentoring and Personal Development Service, brings students and mentors together and highlights the role mentoring plays while at university.

From 13 to 16 October, UIC held Mentoring Week, an initiative designed to encourage meetings between students and mentors and raise awareness of the resources available to support students’ personal and professional development.
Throughout the week, students on both campuses were able to meet with their mentor, discuss the challenges they face and share any concerns about the academic year ahead.

Supporting students throughout their university journey

Through one-to-one meetings, the Mentoring and Personal Development Service provides a trusted space where students can reflect on their goals, develop personal and interpersonal skills, and receive guidance throughout their time at university. Mentors also help students navigate academic and personal challenges and identify opportunities and resources that can support their development.

Mònica Argemí, director of the UIC Mentoring and Personal Development Service, emphasised the value of this support: “At UIC, we have been committed to mentoring for many years as a way of supporting our students. Our lecturers do far more than teach. They also devote time to listening, talking with students and helping each one find their own path.”

Sharing experiences to explore the benefits of mentoring

During Mentoring Week, students also had the chance to hear from fellow students who already take part in the mentoring programme. Each day, short sessions were held from 09.50 to 10.10 at different locations across campus, giving students the opportunity to share experiences and discover how mentoring can contribute to their personal and professional growth during their university years.

The Mentoring and Personal Development team was also present in the cafés on both campuses to answer questions and provide information about the service and the Boost Your Talent platform.

Mentoring Week 2026

Boost Your Talent, UIC’s mentoring programme for undergraduate students, is designed to help them develop key skills and prepare for the world of work. Through practical activities, online training and the guidance of a mentor, participants can strengthen and certify their soft skills.

Initiatives such as Mentoring Week reinforce UIC's commitment to mentoring, highlighting its role in supporting students' personal and professional development.
