More than 100 international exchange students attend the University's Welcome Week

The Welcome Week, aimed at international students who come to study at UIC Barcelona as part of a mobility programme, brought together a total of 130 students from more than twenty different countries

On Wednesday 1 September, the UIC Barcelona International Relations Service kicked off the sessions for the Welcome Week aimed at incoming international exchange students. Like last academic year and due to the situation generated by the pandemic, all activities were carried out in compliance with the health and safety measures established by the health authorities at all times.

This year’s Welcome Week hosted a total of 130 exchange students from more than twenty different nationalities, all of whom were informed of the University’s different services in an initial introductory session. What's more, during the first day of Welcome Week, the incoming international students met their academic mobility coordinators, who gave them a tour around the facilities on their respective University campuses.

As each year, the Welcome Week activities included a series of workshops (such as “Catalan for Dummies” and “Cultural Shock”) organised and presented by the International Relations Service together with the Department of Applied Linguistics. Thanks to these activities, the new students were able to meet each other and learn their first few words of Catalan.

To end the week, on Saturday 4 September, all international students took part in a guided tour of Barcelona to see the city’s most emblematic attractions.
