Promoted by the University Institute of Patient Care, in cooperation with the Janssen pharmaceutical company, the course was created for the purpose of facilitating decision making in the field of clinical care for urological diseases to achieve the best possible outcome, in the affective and as well as the effective dimension of the care given to patients

Currently, a top priority in healthcare organisations is to offer best care to patients with the resources available, while adapting to the rapid and constant technological innovations. The course on Clinical Management in Urological Diseases provides the knowledge, methodologies and instruments, so that participants can make the best clinical decisions centred on the patient, optimally using resources, and always from the human dimension centred on the person.

Some 20 health professionals (managers, area heads and health service coordinators) participated in the first edition of the course. In the different sessions of the course, the clinical management of urological diseases within the National Health System has been put into context, as well as the basic principles of health economics. Participants also learned about the organisational model where these diseases are cared for, they have been able to familiarise themselves with basic management tools of both human, material and technological resources, as well as communication management.

Finally, professionals participated in the programme by sharing their experience as leaders of different initiatives within the clinical management field, thus providing additional information to the knowledge acquired by the participants.
