New series of Cultural Evenings focused on Trump’s United States and artificial intelligence

The Faculty of Humanities at UIC Barcelona has launched the third edition of the series with two new sessions dedicated, as always, to current issues

The Faculty of Humanities at UIC Barcelona, in collaboration with Cases Singulars and the Institut Amatller Foundation for Hispanic Art, has started a new edition of Cultural Evenings.  The programme, which began its third edition in October, will run until May and once again offers spaces for public reflection on topics of humanistic and social interest.

The meetings take place in the former photographic studio of Antoni Amatller on Passeig de Gràcia and feature lecturers and experts from the University, who address contemporary issues with an analytical and accessible approach.

This autumn saw the first two sessions of the series. The opening lecture, held on 15 October, was delivered by Dr Montserrat Nebrera, director of the Carlemany Institute of European Studies and lecturer in Law at the University, under the title “Donald Trump’s United States: now with some perspective”. This highly topical lecture attracted a large audience and opened the series with a particularly enriching debate.

Intel·ligència humana i intel·ligència artificial: iguals o diferents?

The second session took place on 19 November and was led by Dr Gabriel Fernández, lecturer in the Faculty of Humanities, entitled “Human intelligence and artificial intelligence: equal or different?”, a subject of particular relevance in the context of current technological transformations.

The series will continue from February onwards with new proposals exploring artistic, social and architectural issues.
