A posthumous work by Carlos Pujol where he satirises the romantic image of writers has just been published

Edited by Teresa Vallès-Botey, it is a compilation of short stories published on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the author's death

The legacy of poet, novelist, essayist, critic and translator Carlos Pujol is still very much alive a decade after his death. This compilation of short stories that satirise the image of writers and includes cliché's about romantic writers has recently been published by the Comares publishing house in its prestigious La Veleta Los ficticios collection. Edited by Teresa Vallès, director of the Carlos Pujol, Literature and Humanism (2017 SGR 383) research group, the book is an ironic reflection on the spectacle of human vanity that imprisons poets, novelists, critics and editors.

In the foreword to Los ficticios, the editor highlights the great care used by the author in terms of style in the stories: “He uses an elegant and refined prose that is highly natural, with dialogue that is vertiginous in its rhythm” and concluded that “there is no doubt that Carlos Pujol had fun writing this book and the time has come to accept his invitation to join him in this enjoyment”.

The unpublished version of this posthumous work, which was published on the 10th anniversary of the author's death, can be found in the Carlos Pujol Personal Archive at UIC Barcelona. NoIn addition, the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya and Pompeu Fabra University have launched a tribute day to remember him and to highlight his legacy and these will take place on 16 December at UIC Barcelona and on 21 January at the UPF.
