The Sant Cugat campus hosts over 155 young people at the 12th Health Promotion Day
Organised by second-year nursing students, with the support of 65 volunteers from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, the event aimed to raise awareness among young people about the importance of maintaining physical and mental health, as well as the risks associated with suicide, social media, and the consumption of alcohol and drugs
On Saturday, 22 February, Sant Cugat Campus hosted the 12th Health Promotion Day, which saw the participation of over 155 young people from 3rd and 4th-year Secondary Education, Upper-Secondary, and vocational training programmes from schools across Catalonia. The event, led by second-year nursing students, received support from 65 volunteers from the Bachelor’s Degrees in Nursing, Medicine, and, for the first time, Psychology, providing a multidisciplinary approach to mental health and emotional wellbeing.
Under the slogan “¿Qué pasa cuando te pasas? Todo por la salud mental” (What happens when you go too far? Mental health first), five training workshops focused on the prevention and promotion of healthy habits were held throughout the day: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), Mental Health and Suicide Prevention, Social Networks and Bullying, and Alcohol and Drugs.
Through practical and participatory activities, the young participants acquired tools to identify and face risk situations, thereby improving their well-being. Additionally, this initiative provided the nursing students with the opportunity to apply their knowledge of community nursing, strengthening their education and commitment to society.
With growing participation and increasingly developed workshops, the Health Promotion Day continues to establish itself as a leading event for raising awareness and educating young people on health matters.
As in previous editions, the event also collaborated with the Medical Emergency System (SEM).
