Students Aina Planiol and Elisabet Ruiz, respectively world champion and runner-up at the Artistic Skating World Championships held in Paraguay

Two of our students from the UIC Barcelona Faculty of Education Sciences are members of the Olot Artistic Skating Club and the Matadepera Skating Club

The Faculty of Education Sciences is currently celebrating.  One of our students taking a Double Degree in Primary Education and Psychology, Aina Planiol, a member of Olot Artistic Skating Club (CPA Olot), and another of our students taking a bachelor’s degree in Pre-Primary Education, Elisabet Ruiz, a member of Matadepera Skating Club (CP Matadepera); have recently become world champion and runner-up respectively (along with their teams) at the Artistic Skating World Championships held in Asunción (Paraguay) between 29 September and 9 October. 

CPA Olot, of which Aina Planiol is a member, was proclaimed world champion for Large Show groups, scoring 136,000 with their show “Trampa Mortal”. Also, CP Matadepera, in which student Elisabet Ruiz competes, was proclaimed runner-up to the world champion for Small Show Groups with a show called “Salem”, after having achieved a total score of 124,100 points.

Esther Jiménez, dean of the Faculty and vice-rector of the University Community, said: “It is a source of great pride for us to have students like Aina and Elisabet, who have demonstrated how you can become an elite sportsperson without giving up your university education, through strong commitment and hard work.”
