Top rating for all Nursing lecturers in UIC Barcelona’s teaching assessment

The entire permanent teaching team in this department of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences has been awarded a “very favourable” rating by the University’s Teaching Assessment Committee

UIC Barcelona recently published the results of the 16th Teaching Assessment Call (CADU), which concluded on 16 May. This call, governed by the Docentia Manual accredited by AQU Catalunya, highlighted the excellence and commitment of the teaching staff in the Department of Nursing within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.

With this latest assessment, the department has achieved a 100% “Very favourable” rating for all its permanent lecturers, the highest possible rating under the university’s assessment system.

Lecturers Jordi Castillo and Leandra Martín were the two members of the department assessed this year by CADU, both receiving a “very favourable” rating for their strong engagement with the degree programme, their ability to adapt to students’ needs, and their openness to continuous improvement.

The head of the Department of Nursing, Dr Encarna Rodríguez, described this milestone as recognition of the department’s ongoing work and teaching quality: “This very favourable rating acknowledges the teaching and research staff for their career progression and development in the teaching field, reaching levels of excellence recognised by both students and academic leaders. Moreover, the rating also highlights the teaching team’s ability to listen to and integrate student feedback, which allows them to adapt to students’ needs and maintain high teaching standards.”

UIC Barcelona’s teaching assessment is based on lecturers’ self-reports, student satisfaction surveys, reports from degree coordinators and other evidence. This evidence is evaluated by the university’s teaching assessment committee (CADU), chaired by the vice-rector for Academic Planning, Teaching Staff and Quality, Dr Cristina Monforte, and made up of a multidisciplinary team of academic staff, students and alumni. A total of 27 lecturers from different faculties at the university took part in this assessment call. Of these, 26% received the highest rating and 74% a favourable rating. No lecturers received conditional or unfavourable ratings.

This process reinforces UIC Barcelona’s commitment to teaching excellence and continuous improvement.
