UIC Barcelona and the electrical material company Simon join forces to develop educational and research projects
UIC Barcelona has entered into a cooperation agreement with the electrical material company Simon with a view to carrying out joint scientific programmes and cooperating in projects centred around research and training
This agreement is the result of a long-standing partnership between Simon and the UIC Barcelona School of Architecture, which have worked together on other projects. The document, signed in October 2025, demonstrates both organisations’ commitment to cooperate in joint projects over the next two years.
The agreement outlines several forms of cooperation: joint implementation of scientific programmes to foster community and generate knowledge; the granting of credits for courses or activities organised by Simon that are of interest to UIC Barcelona students; the co-organisation of academic activities such as postgraduate programmes, seminars or conferences; cooperation in publications of shared interest; and the exchange of information and mutual advice in the planning and performance of studies and research projects.
Simon heads an industrial group specialised in technological lighting, lighting control, connectivity and electrical material solutions for contractual (retail trade, hospitality industry and workplaces) and residential projects. Simon was founded in 1916 in Olot and is now a multinational leader in the Spanish market, with a presence in over 90 countries.
In 2025, the UIC Barcelona School of Architecture and Simon worked together to organise the Architecture Alumni Gathering, an event which brought together former students in La Casa de la Llum (House of Light) on 3 October.
