UIC Barcelona and the Hospital General de Granollers drive innovation and health research across the region
The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University organised the academic sessions “Exploring Opportunities” during the first term of the academic year, in collaboration with the Consorci Sanitari de Terrassa (CST), Hospital General de Granollers and Hospital Universitari General de Catalunya – all partner hospitals of the Faculty
This initiative represents a significant step forward in the strategic collaboration between UIC Barcelona d the university hospitals affiliated with the Faculty of medicine and health Sciences. These hospitals are recognised centres of excellence in the region and the initiative aims to bring the academic world closer to healthcare professionals while reaffirming a shared commitment to excellence in medical education, innovative teaching and research in health sciences.
The sessions, held at Consorcio Sanitario de Terrassa (CST), the Hospital General de Granollers and the Hospital Universitari General de Catalunya, brought together healthcare professionals, lecturers and researchers from all the institutions with the goal of strengthening collaboration between the University and clinical practice.
According to Dr Esther Calbo, dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. “Collaboration with affiliated centres is an example of how universities and university hospitals can work together to transform teaching and generate knowledge that directly impacts on the quality care.
As a result of this collaborative model, medical students at the University have the opportunity to undertake their curricular placements in a hospital environment where they actively participate in clinical care, teamwork and applied research. Furthermore, the synergies between the four institutions support the ongoing professional development of healthcare staff, foster the creation of joint research projects and facilitate knowledge transfer among lecturers, researchers and healthcare personnel.
The academic sessions “Exploring Opportunities” reflect on the shared commitment that reinforces the role of the University and its partner hospitals as agents of transformation and progress in the field of health.
