UIC Barcelona and the International Team for Implantology (ITI) sign an agreement to promote advanced training in dental implantology

UIC Barcelona’s Faculty of Dentistry will become an official ITI Scholarship Centre from the 2025–2026 academic year, welcoming one candidate each year to further their training in oral implantology

The Faculty of Dentistry at UIC Barcelona has signed a collaboration agreement with the International Team for Implantology (ITI) – the world’s largest academic organisation specialising in oral implantology and tissue regeneration – to support the training of young dental professionals in implantology and related fields. This partnership strengthens UIC Barcelona’s commitment to academic excellence and the international outlook of its student body.

Thanks to this agreement, the Faculty will become an ITI Scholarship Centre from the 2025–2026 academic year. Each year, one student selected by the ITI Scholarship Programme will join the department of Periodontics to enhance their clinical training, participate in research, and take part in activities organised by the ITI Iberia Section.

Dr José Nart, professor of the Faculty of Dentistry, head of Periodontics and current president of the Spanish Society of Periodontology and Osseointegration (SEPA), will co-direct the programme alongside Dr Alberto Monje, providing close supervision and mentoring to the scholarship recipients while they are at the centre.

Excellence in oral implantology training

Launched in 1998, the ITI Scholarship Programme offers young professionals the opportunity to undertake a one-year training placement at top university centres around the world.  The training covers case planning, implant surgery, prosthetic restoration, and, in many cases, implant-related research.

With this initiative, the Faculty of Dentistry reinforces its position as a leading academic centre and continues its commitment to training based on scientific evidence, in line with the ITI's mission to promote learning, research and professional exchange in oral implantology at a global level.
